重現戰前三十年代至戰後八十年代的豪華別墅面貌;

Recreating the modern villas that shaped Hong Kong from the 1930s to the 1980s, this book offers a glimpse into the architecture and lifestyles of high society, tracing how these homes helped shape the city’s neighbourhoods and urban history.
Hong Kong’s modern villas reveal a side of the city rarely seen in its skyline. From the 1930s onwards, they appeared on hillsides, beside coastal roads and in newly planned suburbs, reflecting changing ideas of what a modern home could be.
Some drew on Spanish architecture; others took their cues from English garden cities or Chinese gardens. By the late 1970s, estates in Yuen Long and Tai Po were looking to North American suburbia. Across half a century, these houses helped shape the streets and neighbourhoods around them, leaving a mark on Hong Kong far beyond their garden walls.
